Happy Sunday!!
I hope everyone had a wonderful week!! Mine was busy but great! However, as I was getting through my work week, by Wednesday, I realized that I just was not in the mood to blow dry my hair. So, then I was left with the conundrum of what I was going to do with it. I ultimately decided on putting my hair up in a bun. However, my hair is on the fine side, so I knew that if I just did a plain bun, it would look kinda puny. As a result, I decided that to amp it up, I would actually make 2 buns, but would wrap them with floral hair ties. I felt a little trepidation about if the look being too whimsical for work, but my patients seemed to love it! I even had one ask to take a picture! That is definitely not part of my usual patient interaction!! But that experience just made me realize how much of a difference that accessories can make to your presentation and your outfit. That particular day, I was just wearing a red sheath dress, but those hair ties what put my personality in it. And I think it is those touches that we all seek to give our outfits that uniqueness and individuality that represent us.
Also, to keep with the floral theme, I wore these floral Steve Madden platforms. I love platforms on my heels. That extra cushion allows me to keep going all day without soreness or tiredness.
Another way to amp up a simple dress is with a statement belt. This blue long sheath sweater dress is so soft to wear, but is very minimalistic. I bought this low slung belt probably over 10 years ago at Nordstroms, but I love its ability to take my outfits to the next level. And I still get compliments on it now!
But don’t think that you have to break the bank to find amazing touches to add to your outfit. This vest is from Forever 21 and if you sign up on their email list, you can get access to occasional flash sales and I got this for a super bargain and plan on wearing it for awhile!
I had a dear friend from my hometown in Vegas for a conference, so I took things up a notch with these Christian Loboutin pumps. I love the intricacy of the pattern- it’s supposed to resemble the inside of a computer!
I don’t know why, but I’ve always been nervous about wearing too many rings at a time for fear of looking too over the top, but something in me this weekend just blew that fear out of my head. Unfortunately, I can’t really wear many rings on a daily basis due to my work, but this is a fun and easy way to add personality to anything!!
Sadly, as the weather is getting warmer, it’s harder to wear jackets and coats, but I love how they can add instant panache and sophistication. But at least I know that I will have these babies for when it gets cooler again! I got the faux fur vest from Asos.com and the blazer with velvet flowers is from Tory Burch.
What are your favorite accessories and how do you use them to show off your personal style? I’d love to hear about it!! Until next week!!
